Using Cut Tulips and DaffodilsIn your flower arrangements, avoid mixing cut tulips with daffodils - at least right away - because daffodils produce a chemical "slime" that injures tulip flowers.
If you want to use these two flowers together in an arrangement here is what you do:
1. Put the cut daffodils in another container of water for a day after cutting
2. Then rinse off the stems
3. Then add them to the vase of tulips
You can also add 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of activated charcoal or 6 drops of bleach to each quart of water to avoid this problem.
By following the above facts, it really is the best way to care for cut tulips and daffodils.
